Outcome
PHP and MySQL e-commerce store for Miss Purple, a women's fashion brand: product catalogue, size and colour stock, cart, checkout and order management.
Overview
Miss Purple sold women's clothing mainly through social media posts and direct messages. The brand needed its own store where customers could browse collections, choose sizes and colours, and place orders without back-and-forth messaging, while staff kept full control of products and orders.
Problem
Orders arrived through comments and inbox messages, so size, colour and stock details were confirmed by hand for every sale. Popular items were oversold, order status lived in chat threads, and there was no single catalogue customers could browse.
My contribution
- Owned full-stack development of the custom PHP/MySQL store.
- Built the catalogue with categories, collections and size/colour variants with their own stock levels.
- Developed the cart, checkout and order flow, including cash-on-delivery orders.
- Built the admin panel for products, stock, orders, customers and promotional banners.
Technical approach
Modelled each product with its variants so stock is tracked per size and colour, not per item. The storefront was built mobile-first, since most customers arrived from social media on their phones. Orders move through clear statuses that staff update from the admin panel.
Engineering highlights
- Per-variant stock tracking that stopped sold-out sizes from being ordered.
- Mobile-first storefront for customers arriving from social media.
- One admin panel for products, orders and customers.
Key features
- Product catalogue with categories and collections.
- Size and colour variants with individual stock.
- Cart and checkout with cash on delivery.
- Order management with status updates.
- Customer accounts and order history.
- Admin-managed banners and featured products.
- Responsive, mobile-first storefront.
Result
The delivered store gave Miss Purple a single catalogue and order system, replacing manual confirmation over messages with structured orders and stock that staff could manage themselves.
